For most VUV/XUV applications, CCD detectors are an excellent choice, as they provide the highest resolution and a large dynamic range.
Multi-channel plates (MCP) combined with a phosphor screen and low-noise CMOS read-out cameras have specific advantages in a number of applications. For extremely long acquisition times or gated detection, MCP detection is an excellent choice. Large-area MCP models allow for the largest spectral bandwidth in a spectrometer.
